kitchen redo plans

We are gearing up this summer to tackle our big kitchen redo. Rip everything out, including the floors down to the subfloor and then build it back up. I can't wait. I'm about 90% positive that I am going with a two tone cabinetry look with subway tile up to the ceiling around the windows and around our hood. 
I love this look but think it needs to be when the upper cabinets run all the way to the ceiling, when they stop before the ceiling it looks a little choppy for me.

I'm a little worried about resale value though, are most people going to like the cabinets painted two different colors or is that too pushing the envelope?
